Hello, All.
Well, we were up at 5:15 a.m. this morning to catch our train into Athens.
Thankfully, Arthur and his Mom provided us with bowls of yogurt and honey
for the fridge the night before, so we didn't travel on an empty stomach.
Our train pulled in about 20 minutes late, but we were safely ensconced in
our (very nice) hotel by noon.
We're in a great area of Athens known as Omonia, which has some hotels but
is not tourist-oriented. It's actually near a technical university, so we
have at least a dozen computer stores, bookshops and cafes around the
corner! Needless to say, Ben's in heaven.
After a quick break, we headed to the Athens Archaeological Museum (with
A/C) and spent a leisurely three hours there marvelling at ancient works
including the death mask of Agamemnon. We were pretty tired from our
travels though, so after a bit to eat a nap was in order. Sarah's
planning on lots of afternoon naps until we go, as it's a great way to
rest up and beat the afternoon heat.
Tomorrow we're planning to hit the Acropolis (early) and see what we can
accomplish before lunch. We think at least one more trip to the beach is
also in order before we go. It's hard to believe it's almost been three
weeks already, but we're looking forward to coming home too.
Cheers,
Sarah and Ben
